Mine woods- "Forest on fire"

The late autumn sunlight cast a mysterious light  on the trees in Mine woods. It only lasted a matter of minutes but I was just able to capture it.

The developers have their eyes on this area for housing. Dunblane ( top right) has been ermarked for more housing and Park of Keir ( bottom right) is where  Judy Murray waants to build  tennis centre, museum to her son Andy, golf course, hotel and ..yes of course housing.

Whatever happened to summer? we seem to have gone straight into autumn mists.

International Women's Day

Ann Harding with Keri- Dobbies Garden centre, Stirling

International Women’s Day – so I set out to look for some positive images of women and I came across Ann Harding, a retired teacher in our local falconry centre .”This is how I get my thrills these days.”

She is holding Keri a young buzzard hawk. He is much in demand for photo opportunities because of the way he opens his wings as soon as he is held.

Winter wonderland

Woke this morning to see the garden transformed into a winter wonderland like scene from Narnia.

Our poor postman had to leave his van at the bottom of the hill and walk .

The Battle of Sheriffmuir

Farewell lunch for friends today who are moving “down south” to be near grandchildren.

We went to the Sheriffmuir pub, an isolated 17^th century Droving Inn, and these photos was taken from the car park. ( It was far too cold to walk far, anyway we were not dressed for it).

As the snow began to fall we wondered if it had been such a good idea to choose such a remote spot. But the snow did not settle except on the mountains.

This is the area where the famous Battle of Sheriffmuir

was fought in 1715 during the Jacobite rebellion in England and Scotland. The battle was inconclusive with about 700 slain on each side.
